We got the house!

Mike and I had to go against a few other families and a little above what we wanted but we ended up winning the bid! It helped that the listing agent liked us and had met us a few times. We don't take possession until the end of the month (June 29th) and we will have to be out of the old house by that Sunday (July 1st). Poor Mike has to move all on his own because I'm at Convention that whole week. If you're free, come help out!

The plan is to move everything in to the garage that weekend because there are some things we plan to do to the house before we move furniture in:

- Remove 70's style wallpaper in the living room, dining room, kitchen, entryway, stairway, family room

- Retexture all of the above
- Repaint all of the above
- Remove old baseboards and trim, wood newells in the front entry way, cork paneling behind the bar, paneling in the kitchen
- new carpet in living room/ dinning room, stairs, bedrooms (x4), family room
- fix dry rot in upstairs hall bath

We figure that might take a week or two so until then, we sleep on a mattress on the floor with a port-a-crib. We would also love to get the bedrooms painted and the baseboards in before but we shall see. We have to do a lot on our own to save some money but that also takes time. We want to do things that will be easier without furniture.

We also need to add a fence in the backyard because its not completely fenced in. We have a full fence along our property line on the South side but only a partial one on the North. We have just a barb wire fence along the top edge and so we want to replace that with "deer fence" so we can still see through it to the open space. So we'll have to walk up to our neighbors and say, "Hi! Want to split a fence?"

We just got the HOA packet and we are worried that we will have to get everything cleared through them which will take longer. Reading through the packet they seem very strict, you even have a time limit on how long your garbage cans can be out. We'll see how strict they are but we definitely got into a good looking neighborhood!
